PHEN Clinical Trials Learning Session Presented in Collaboration with Pfizer
The Prostate Health Education Network (PHEN), in collaboration with Pfizer, recently hosted a Clinical Trials Learning Session focused on emerging research in metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). The program highlighted three coordinated Phase 3 clinical studies evaluating an investigational twice-daily oral EZH2 inhibitor in combination with standard-of-care therapies.
These studies are designed to determine whether adding an EZH2 inhibitor to existing treatment approaches—including androgen receptor-targeted therapies such as enzalutamide—can help delay treatment resistance and slow disease progression for men living with advanced prostate cancer.
The session featured expert insights from Dr. Keith Crawford, PHEN Director of Clinical Trials and Patient Education, and Dr. Neal Shore, Medical Director of the Carolina Urologic Research Center and a leading clinical investigator in prostate cancer research. Together, they provided an in-depth overview of the science behind EZH2 inhibition, the goals of the ongoing clinical trials, and what participants can expect throughout the research process.
Topics discussed included:
- The role of EZH2 in prostate cancer progression and treatment resistance
- The design and objectives of the Phase 3 clinical studies
- Eligibility criteria for potential participants
- Potential side effects and safety considerations
- The importance of clinical trial participation in advancing prostate cancer care
- Why diverse representation in clinical research is essential for improving outcomes across all communities
Clinical trials play a critical role in advancing treatment options and helping researchers better understand how new therapies may benefit patients. Sessions like this provide valuable education for patients, caregivers, advocates, and healthcare professionals seeking to stay informed about the latest developments in prostate cancer research.
PHEN remains committed to increasing awareness of clinical trials and empowering patients with the knowledge needed to make informed decisions about their care. Through partnerships with industry leaders, researchers, and healthcare professionals, PHEN continues to expand access to educational resources and opportunities that support improved outcomes for men affected by prostate cancer.
