PHENTrials.com Increasing Participation in Prostate Cancer Clinical Trials to Save Lives

Quincy, MA, December 11, 2024The Prostate Health Education Network (PHEN) announces the launch of enhanced PHENTrials.com. This online portal provides prostate cancer patients access to clinical trial information based on their specific diagnoses and locations throughout the United States.

Using the new Find Your Trial (FYT) search tool, prostate cancer patients can enter their diagnoses and the states where they live to gain access to clinical trial information and those for which they are eligible. Patients can then review the data presented with their doctors and the clinical trial investigators to determine whether to participate in a suitable trial.

“Prostate cancer patients can gain life-saving treatments from clinical trials,” said PHEN Director of Clinical Trials Dr. Keith Crawford. “These may be the best choices for patients with specific diagnoses, but finding the right clinical trial can be complex, and the FYT search tool helps gather patients’ diagnoses and locations to find them eligible trials.”

Every trial listed includes descriptions, study locations, and contact information to help patients make informed decisions. Furthermore, PHENTrials.com encompasses a database of all actively recruiting prostate cancer clinical trials with eight diagnostic categories. These diagnostic categories include:

  • Low Risk
  • Intermediate Risk
  • High Risk
  • Cancer Recurrence
  • Non-Metastatic Castration Resistant
  • Metastatic Castration Sensitive
  • Metastatic Castration Resistant
  • Neuroendocrine

“Our goal is to empower patients with easy access to clinical trials that may offer significant benefits,” said Dr. Keith Crawford. “By simplifying the search process to your type of cancer and location, we aim to increase participation in prostate cancer clinical trials, especially among high-risk individuals like African American men who are disproportionately affected by prostate cancer.”

The FYT tool aims to raise clinical trial participation among Black patients who are not represented at sufficient rates in clinical research and assist all patients who have not taken advantage of lifesaving trials. It aligns with PHEN’s broader commitment to eliminating racial disparities in prostate cancer outcomes and supporting all men in their fight against this disease.

“If it were not for the advocacy of PHEN and their clinical trial navigation, I would have never considered a clinical trial as part of my advanced prostate cancer treatment,” stated Mr. DeWayne Charleston, a 15-year prostate cancer survivor from Houston, Texas. “I am currently participating in a Phase III clinical trial and still refer to PHEN for support, advocacy, and educational programs.”
